Polypropylene production unit is not toxic

October 13, 2015

According to Mehr news agency, Mohajer stated regarding the implementation of environmental requirements and basic measures to minimize the pollution of Alvand Polypropylene Company: The efficiency of converting feed into products in this project is 99.2%, which is according to the current and modern technology used in the country. It is unique.

He continued: The by-product of this project (propane), which is known as offgas, which of course will be less than 1500 tons per year, will be returned to the refinery through the pipeline and will be used in the LPG produced by the refinery.

The flare is the only source of emissions

Mohajer stated: The only major source of pollution in this plan is its flare, which will be used only in emergency situations of stopping the unit (at most once a year) and according to its unique design in the country (choosing and implementing a short flare with new technology for the first time in the country ) will have much less emissions than the current tall flares.

The CEO of Alvand Polypropylene Company continued: It should be said that currently the propylene produced by the refinery is emptied from the refinery tanks by 30 to 40 trucks per day and sent to other parts of the country by long routes, which has a lot of pollution, an average waste of -5 3% of propylene to the environment and underground water and there are many risks during loading at the refinery, transportation on the road and unloading at the consumer unit. Environmental pollution is currently decreasing in the region and the country.

Polypropylene production unit is not toxic

He said: The polypropylene production unit is considered a downstream unit in the petrochemical field and is known as a non-polluting unit. The feed of this unit is not toxic and the resulting product has medical and health applications. The environmental studies of this project have been prepared through a consultant approved by the environmental organization and the environmental license of the project has been obtained from that organization through the full legal process.

Mohajer said about the main reasons for changing the name of the company from Elvand Petrochemical Development to Elvand Polypropylene: This project was initially supposed to produce 5 different products of propylene and the initial name was chosen based on this, but in 2016 due to the lack of Propylene and the country’s need for polypropylene products (medical and health grade) was requested to change the establishment license, fortunately in 2019, by accepting this request, the project was limited to polypropylene production only.

He continued: Therefore, considering that the production product of this design is polypropylene, the name of Elvand polypropylene indicates the nature of its production type. Of course, it should be said that all the approvals of the project and especially the environmental license with the name of Elvand Petrochemical Development have been received and the name change has not and will not affect the legal procedure.

Referring to the amount of water consumption in the production and how to supply it, the CEO of Alvand Polypropylene Company said: Water allocated to the project is 600 thousand cubic meters per year with the approval of the Water and Wastewater Planning Office of the Ministry of Energy in 2017 from the Kamal Saleh Dam industry allocation site. Since that year, with the signing of a contract with the Central Regional Water Joint Stock Company, the costs of the announced demand have been paid by that company (without water consumption).

Mohajer said about the employment generation of the project: During the project, the number of employees employed by Alvand Polypropylene Company, which is currently around 50 people, will increase to 170 people. It will make maximum use of the facilities of Central Province for construction activities and equipment manufacturing.

He continued: The amount of job creation of the project after its launch will be at least 410 people directly, and this company is committed to providing more than 95% of its required manpower from the local forces of Shazand region and surrounding cities.

Mohajer pointed to the performance of the company in the field of social responsibilities and further emphasized: the shareholders of Elvand Polypropylene Company have a long history in the field of social responsibilities and consider themselves bound to act in order to improve the health and well-being of the society.

Creation of more than 1000 job opportunities in Malair and Shazand cities

By using this project, Shazand region will especially benefit from its benefits.

He reminded: the amount of physical progress of the project so far, despite all the international and domestic sanctions, inflation and the country’s difficult economic conditions, the Corona epidemic and other obstacles, is more than 40%, which has also been approved by the National Petrochemical Industries Company, and God willing, the time of launching the project It will be the second half of 1401.

The CEO of Alvand Polypropylene Company said regarding the planned measures for effluents and possible wastes: Rainwater will be collected on the site for future use and to save water consumption. According to the documents, the amount of industrial waste water of the project is maximum 7 cubic meters per hour and the amount of sanitary waste water in the operation phase is about 5-10 cubic meters per day.

He said: This company considers itself responsible for the protection of the environment and considers investment to reduce pollution in the region as one of its duties.
